Day 01Arrive in Colombo & Transfer to Galle
Welcome to Sri Lanka! Meet on arrival and begin your journey south along the scenic coast. En route, visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, a marine conservation center. Continue to Galle and explore the historic Galle Dutch Fort, a beautiful seaside UNESCO World Heritage site filled with colonial buildings and boutiques. Hotel: Agnus Unawatuna or similar.

Day 02Galle to Yala National Park & Leopard Safari (B, D)
Travel east along the southern coast. Stop in Weligama to observe the famous traditional stilt fishermen. In the afternoon, embark on an exciting 4x4 Jeep Safari in Yala National Park, home to leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and rich birdlife. Enjoy dinner at your resort. Day 03Yala to Ella & Nine Arch Bridge (B, D)
Climb into the lush central highlands. Stop to see the ancient Buduruwagala Buddha statues, carved directly into a massive rock face. Pass the stunning Ravana Falls before arriving in Ella. Visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge set among dense jungle and tea plantations. Hotel: Morning Dew Hotel or similar.

Day 04Ella Highlands: Lipton's Seat & Little Adam's Peak (B)
Visit Lipton's Seat viewpoint for sweeping panoramas over tea estates. Later, hike through tea country to Little Adam's Peak for exceptional mountain views. Remainder of the day is at leisure. Hotel: Morning Dew Hotel or similar.

Day 05Ella Scenic Mountain Rail to Nuwara Eliya & Kandy (B, D)
Board the iconic mountain train to Nuwara Eliya ("Little England"), passing misty waterfalls and lush plantations. Learn about Ceylon tea during a plantation and factory tour, then descend to the cultural capital of Kandy. Enjoy a traditional cultural dance show tonight. Hotel: Earl's Regent Hotel or similar.

Day 06Kandy Village Trek & Temple of the Tooth (B)
Trek through rice paddies and forest trails in Heel Oya village for a glimpse into traditional rural life. In the afternoon, return to Kandy to visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, Sri Lanka’s most revered Buddhist site. Hotel: Earl's Regent Hotel or similar.

Day 07Kandy to Sigiriya via Dambulla Cave Temple (B)
Journey north into the Cultural Triangle. Stop at a Matale Spice Garden and the remarkable UNESCO-listed Dambulla Golden Cave Temple. Later, experience a local Sigiriya Village Trek along peaceful rural waterways. Hotel: Sigiriana Resort or similar.

Day 08Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Polonnaruwa Ancient City (B)
Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, rising 200m above the forest. Explore ancient frescoes and royal sky palace gardens. Later, visit Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's medieval capital, to see its well-preserved royal ruins and stone carvings. Hotel: Sigiriana Resort or similar.

Day 09Sigiriya to Colombo City Exploration (B)
Drive south to Colombo. Enjoy a guided city tour of Sri Lanka’s energetic capital, including the Red Mosque, Gangaramaya Temple, Independence Square, and the oceanfront Galle Face Green. Hotel: Cinnamon Lakeside or similar.

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport for your onward departure journey. (Meal: Breakfast)
Because Sri Lanka is affected by two separate monsoons, the best time to visit the south coast and highlands (Galle, Yala, Ella, Kandy) is from December to April. The Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa) is pleasant for most of the year, though October and November can see heavier rains.
Pack lightweight layers as Nuwara Eliya and Ella can get quite cool in the evenings (12-16°C). For temples (like the Temple of the Tooth Relic and Dambulla), modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is mandatory; you will also need to remove shoes and hats before entering.
