Osaka (Kansai)

Upon arrival, make your way to a hotel near Kansai Airport.

** A transfer from Kansai Airport (KIX) to the hotel is available for AU$150 per person (Minimum 2 people: AU$300).

Osaka to Kobe (B, Welcome Dinner)

In the morning, we begin our journey at Osaka Castle, a historic fortress that stands as a symbol of the city. Built in the 16th century, its impressive five-story tower is adorned with vibrant vermillion hues and a golden roof.

Next, we explore Dotonbori, Osaka’s lively food and entertainment hub. Enjoy exploring the area, sampling local delicacies, shopping, and taking a photo with one of Osaka’s most famous icons, Glico!

We then head to Kobe to visit the Kobe Earthquake Memorial Museum, a moving tribute to the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, which deeply affected the city.

The day concludes with a Welcome Dinner, providing a chance to meet and connect with your fellow travelers.

Kobe to Kurashiki to Hiroshima (B)

After breakfast, we begin our journey to Hiroshima, a city that was largely devastated by the atomic bomb dropped on August 6, 1945, and is internationally recognized for this tragic event.

On the way, we make a stop in Kurashiki, famous for its beautifully preserved Edo-period (17th-19th century) merchant district. The charming canals, white-walled warehouses, and cobblestone streets offer a nostalgic glimpse into the past.

Hiroshima to Okayama (B)

Today, we start with a visit to Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island. The shrine and its iconic torii gate are remarkable for being built over water, giving the illusion of floating on the sea during high tide. Next, we visit the Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Museum, dedicated to honoring the victims of the atomic bombing during WWII. Afterward, we continue our journey to Okayama.

Okayama to Nara to Kyoto (B)

Today, we head north with a stop in Himeji to explore Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993. Renowned for its breathtaking white fortress, the castle represents the epitome of samurai-era architecture and historical magnificence.

Upon arriving in Nara, we take a short walk to visit the main attractions, starting with Todaiji Temple and its Great Hall, home to one of the world’s largest bronze Buddha statues. On your way back to the station, stroll through Nara Deer Park, where hundreds of deer freely roam. These 1,200 deer have become the symbol of the city, rooted in the Shinto belief that all creatures, nature, and objects are messengers of the gods.

After a fulfilling day, enjoy a restful night at your hotel in Kyoto.

Kyoto (B)

Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure, giving you the opportunity to explore Kyoto at your own pace.

Kyoto to Kanazawa (B)

This morning, we begin with a visit to Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion. A Zen temple and UNESCO World Heritage site, Kinkakuji features two floors covered in layers of pure gold, showcasing a blend of three distinct architectural styles: Shinden, Samurai, and Zen.

Next, we travel to the Togetsu Bridge and Bamboo Grove in the Arashiyama District of Western Kyoto, iconic landmarks that have stood for over 400 years. Walking through the Bamboo Grove feels like entering a different world, with its mesmerizing and tranquil atmosphere unlike any other forest you’ve experienced.

Afterward, we continue our journey to the city of Kanazawa.

Kanazawa (B)

Today, we explore the historic castle town of Kanazawa. We begin with a visit to Buke Yashiki, a traditional samurai house, where we’ll learn about the lifestyle of high-ranking samurais during the Edo period. Next, we wander through the charming streets of Higashi Chaya, a district once home to teahouses, now filled with picturesque old buildings.

Our journey continues with a visit to Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan’s top three landscape gardens, renowned for its beauty. We’ll also stop by Omicho Market to sample local delicacies and browse through handmade crafts.

Kanazawa to Shirakawago to Takayama (B)

Today, we embark on a half-day tour of Shirakawago to explore this charming village and its iconic gassho-style houses. The tour includes a stop at an observation point, offering a panoramic view of the entire village. Your English-speaking guide will share insights into the fascinating history of this unique settlement.

Enjoy your time in Shirakawago! After the tour, we continue our journey to Takayama, where we’ll spend the night.

Takayama to Matsumoto (B)

Today, we explore Takayama, a city nestled in the mountainous Gifu Prefecture of Japan. While in Takayama, you’ll visit the well-preserved Old Town, the historic Takayama Jinya (the former local government office), and the fascinating Matsuri no Mori museum, which showcases the city’s vibrant festivals.

After completing the tour in Takayama, we board the bus and head to the Matsumoto area for the night.

Matsumoto to Mount Fuji (B, Farewell Dinner)

Ohayou-gozaimasu! Today, we begin by visiting one of Japan’s most well-preserved and original castles, Matsumoto Castle.

Next, we head towards the Mount Fuji area, starting with a visit to Oshino Hakkai, a collection of eight ponds fed by melting snow from Mount Fuji. The clear spring water, filtered through layers of lava, is highly regarded by the locals. Following this, we visit the 5th station of Mount Fuji, which sits above the clouds and offers breathtaking views of the summit (weather permitting).

We will spend the night in the Mount Fuji area and conclude the day with a farewell dinner, celebrating the journey with your fellow travelers.

Mount Fuji to Tokyo (B)

Today, we begin with a visit to Gotemba Peace Park, where you can take in another stunning view of Mount Fuji. Next, enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Ashi, surrounded by the breathtaking natural beauty of the area.

Afterward, we travel to Tokyo, where you’ll have the evening to enjoy your stay in the vibrant city.

Tokyo (B)

Today, we embark on a full-day tour of Tokyo, visiting some of the city's most famous landmarks.

We begin at Tokyo Tower, one of the city's most iconic structures. From the observation deck, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Tokyo and discover the tower’s rich history and cultural significance.

Next, we head to Shibuya Crossing, one of the world’s busiest intersections. Watch the vibrant flow of people crossing from the pedestrian overpass and explore the lively shopping and dining areas nearby.

For lunch, we visit Tsukiji Fish Market, the world’s largest seafood market. Savor some of the freshest sushi in Tokyo while soaking in the lively atmosphere of the market.

Afterward, we visit Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo's oldest and most renowned temple. Take a leisurely stroll along Nakamise-dori shopping street and explore the temple grounds, including the Jokoro incense burner and the main hall. Pause for a traditional Japanese snack at a nearby café or tea shop to relax.

We conclude the day at the Imperial Palace, the official residence of Japan’s Emperor. Enjoy a guided tour of the palace grounds, including the Ninomaru Garden and the ruins of the old castle tower. Learn about Japan’s imperial family’s history and culture while admiring the grandeur of their residence.
